Perfect for travellers looking for a scenic and accessible stargazing experience, this tour blends landscape, atmosphere, and storytelling without the need for technical knowledge or equipment.
* Includes pick up and return to your Broken Hill accommodation. Starting times vary throughout the year depending on sunset. Your exact pick-up time will be confirmed the day prior to departure.
- We begin with a scenic drive approximately 10km out of town to the Living Desert Sculptures. Set high on a hill, these striking sandstone artworks are best viewed at sunset. Your guide will share the history of the Living Desert Reserve and provide interpretation of each sculpture while you enjoy sweeping outback views.
- From here, we head to the Outback Astronomy Centre, where under some of the clearest and darkest skies in Australia you will gain a fascinating insight into the stars and the universe. You will view planets, admire Sirius — a star around twice the size of the sun and 25x brighter! You may even spot the International Space Station passing overhead at 30 000kms/hr.
Please note: The astronomy component is subject to favourable weather and sky conditions. If cancelled, the tour will be rescheduled or a full refund will be provided.
